A Toast
by Asrai
(Dedicated to Paganlifers everywhere.)

Stand a while and drink with me
To health and fortune love and cheer
To all the sights we've yet to see
And all the ones we cherish dear
Take the time to think upon
The memories of absent friends
Drink with me and toast this day
A day of plenty love and light
Where bitterness has gone away
With darkness far off out of sight
I drink to you my trusty friend
And friends no matter where you be
To you the best of luck I send
And hope that you will drink to me

Can I

Can I describe the way I feel in all the words in a single breath
Can I make the feelings of a lifetime felt from the passing of a single word
Can I weave pictures from a seconds glance that say all that I have to say
Can I leave hope in a hopeless wake and fill the heart with so much joy
Can I begin to tell the tale that all good souls would love to hear
Can I do this and so much more in the space of a beating heart
YES!!

Dolmen

I stood beside the unhewn stone
The symbol of immortal years
From fiery breath and wild wind grown
Unabashed by mortal fears

I sat beside the stone that day
And watched the grass sweep to and fro
I spied the group that passed my way
From where they come I do not know

I lay on sodden grass beside
The rock that called me strong and clear
I watched the goshawk's silent glide
My heart was lifted filled with cheer

Then suddenly the thought came by
Warm and deep and all alone
I am the bird that flies on high as
I am now this unhewn stone

The weaver
(Dedicated to Elaine)

A summer wind upon the face
The warm love of a fond embrace
The ticking hours draw apart
The rhythm of the beating heart

Souls take flight in night time air
Like Eagles soar without a care
The shallow drip of dewdrops fall
The echo of the distant call

What happiness lies in a song
What passion keeps on burning strong
What hope still lasts throughout the year
What sorrow lies within the tear

For what we want and what we need
For friendship built from every creed
For what has past and what's begun
With these last words the weave is done
